Supported Housing

We offer safe, comfortable housing in Redcar & Cleveland for women escaping abuse.

Legal Surgery

We offer free legal advice once a month, provided by Cygnet Law.

Supported Housing

We can provide safe, warm, comfortable well-equipped housing in Redcar & Cleveland for women seeking refuge from the trauma of abuse & violence. 

Our safehouses help you rebuild your life free from violence, fear & abuse. Our award-winning range of housing include houses that cater for Women:

  • Of all ages
  • With disabilities
  • One house specifically for 45+
  • With complex mental health needs

All our houses have individual bedrooms with shared bathroom, laundry, lounge & kitchen facilities.  

We will provide you with your own keyworker who will be on hand to provide emotional and practical support. We ensure you will have an up to date, individual risk assessment and safety plan. Our keyworkers will also support individual needs and goals including:

  • Budgeting
  • Cooking
  • Benefit applications
  • GP registration
  • Legal appointments
  • Court Support
  • Assistance with housing and grants (when you are ready to move on)

Legal Surgery

We host a free legal surgery once a month at our offices which is staffed by one of our brilliant funders – the team from Cygnet Law.

Cygnet Law work closely with us to provide you with relevant, legal support.

With these legal surgeries you can access free legal advice on a wide range of matters including issues around:

  • Domestic violence – using the law to protect yourself and your family, for example obtaining a civil order to stop you from being contacted or applying for an injunction.
  • Children – legal issues around child support, child access and all other matters to ensure children are safe
  • Other family or legal issues – just talk to the team and they will provide any legal support around this that you require.

IDVA

You will be appointed with an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) who will ensure your voice is heard.

Specialist counselling and therapeutic support to help you with trauma because of domestic abuse and/ or sexual violence.

You will be appointed with an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) who will ensure your voice is heard. Whether this is through the criminal / civil justice system or elsewhere.

Our IDVA service is designed to support you in many ways; providing emotional & practical support to help you and your family become & remain safe.

We want to give you the tools and the confidence you need to make safe yet positive choices and will liaise with other parties & professionals on your behalf.

We will work to understand and reduce the risks posed to you from your Perpetrator, this can include things like dealing with the courts to get an non-mol through to having the locks on your house changed. We will conduct risk assessments and complete safety plans to help reduce this risk to you and your family.

Our work can also include support within health services, housing advice, signposting and mediating. It is always rooted in the safety of you and your family.

This is available for women over 18 and children/ young people of all genders.

We use a blend of therapeutic interventions to support you with your needs. We assess everyone individually and we then develop and plan a support package with you, as we want you to be in control to have your therapy goals supported.

Methods used to you include:

  • Person-Centred Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Single Session Therapy
  • Psychoeducation: Education on types of abuse and the impact on mental health
  • Practical Daily Interventions

    Sessions can be carried out in a number of ways to suit your needs, examples include:

    • Face to face appointments
    • Zoom appointments
    • Telephone sessions
    • Walk & talk sessions

    In addition to our office hours appointments, we also offer early morning and late evening appointments as required. We can also arrange to have an interpreter present if this is needed.

    We offer specialist counselling and therapeutic support for children and young people of all genders aged 4 to 18 years, who have been affected by the trauma of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

    We offer specialist counselling and therapeutic support for children and young people of all genders aged 4 to 18 years, who have been affected by the trauma of domestic abuse and/or sexual violence.

    These sessions are normally held at the child’s school, at times to suit them in and to fit around their academic work. We work closely with the school to ensure this is a successful as possible and of course that the child is as comfortable as possible. 

    We also work closely with other agencies, such as Social Workers and Schools to ensure that the needs of the child or young person are recognised and met. Methods used to support children/ young people include:

    • Creative Therapy
    • Person-Centred Therapy
    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
    • Trauma Therapy
    • Mindfulness
    • Single Session Therapy
